OUR STORY & ANNIVERSARY

A school first existed on the grounds in 1926

(97 years ago). This was called East Hills Public School and used buildings on the Lambeth Street end of the current campus.

In 2023 we are celebrating

the 70-ish anniversary of

Panania Public School.

Why 70-ish?

Eventually a school was built at East Hills itself and the campus became Panania School

but was separated into a boy's school at the Picnic Point Road end and a girl's school at the Lambeth Street end with a fence separating the two.

In 1953 the current building was erected with further buildings to come in the 1950's and 1960's as the gender-separated schools joined as one campus.

The previous anniversary's celebrated were 50 years in 2003 and 60 years in 2013, so the parents have kept with the tradition, but the playground has been here for 97 years! I think playgrounds are more important than the classrooms!

My school's parents are looking for past students, staff and

families to share their memories. Mum says, click on this

As part of our celebration, we have opened up a time capsule that was first buried in 1988. There were other things added  for the 50 and 60-year anniversaries. We're adding to it as well.

The time capsule contains:

old uniforms  copies of the school newsletter from 35 years ago

letters from students - and some have kids here that are my friends! Super WOW!

link and fill in the form, or you can email your stories, or... bring memorabilia into the Admin office. They will put it all together with stuff they already have, like old uniforms, photos and rolls going back 100 years for an exhibition on the day. It's not all about old stuff though. All the students here are making new time capsules. It's SUPER FUN! I wonder if my kids will go to this school too!
